Red Herring Vegetarian Restaurant is a vegan health-food restaurant in Urbana which has been open since 1967. Dishes include salads, a hummus plate, nachos, chilli, soup, burgers, sandwiches and a daily special. A highlight is the kale-bacon-cheese sandwich (bacon-marinated seitan, seared kale, spicy cashew cheese, vegan mayo, grilled onions and tomato). Local and organic produce is used whenever possible. The restaurant is located within the Channing-Murray Foundation campus-community center.
