The Chicago Diner is a vegetarian restaurant and pub with two locations in Chicago. 99% of the items on the menu are vegan. Highlights include the poutine (Canadian-style waffle fries topped with melted Teese vegan cheese, country gravy and green onions), vegan lasagna and country fried steak (battered seitan filet, topped with country gravy, rustic mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables). Vegan shakes, cheesecakes and sundaes are served and there is an in-house vegan bakery. They source all ingredients locally and enforce a variety of sustainability principles such as ensuring to-go packaging is biodegradable, using FSC and Rainforest Alliance certified office paper and eco-friendly cleaning products.
