Sabay Vegilicious is a social enterprise in Phnom Penh owned by people who used to run a dog meat restaurant and have now made the switch to serving compassionate plant-based food. Dogs are now welcome with their owners. Some start-up help for the transition was given by Marc Ching from Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation (AHWF), an international animal welfare organization that works towards ending the dog meat trade: “What are we if we cannot forgive. Who do we become, if never given the chance to start again?” The menu features vegan versions of Khmer dishes such as hotpots, soups, and Amok.
