Allegro Hearth Bakery in the Squirrel Hill area of Pittsburgh, is a local bakery which has bread at its heart.
Specializing in crusty European breads, a significant proportion of what’s on offer is vegan, from the ciabatta and focaccia to the traditional French peasant or cracked wheat loaves.
Being fresh is at the heart of Allegro Hearth Bakery’s ethos, with each dough being prepared daily, and only enough for the following day’s hand-bake on the stone hearth. The flours used are unbleached and unbromated, and there are no artificial flavors or preservatives in the recipes.
