We went to this restaurant shortly before new years. We chose it because the restaurant was touted as being omnivore, vegetarian and vegan. The reality was there is only one vegan dish on the menu (several vegetarian dishes) and the lady at the counter reacted annoyed at the fact that I really wanted the bean dish to be vegan and not just vegetarian. The restaurant stops its breakfast menu in the early afternoon and one of the people in my party was disappointed that the kitchen would not make any exceptions. We were relegated to ordering meat dishes without the meat; they would allow us to substitute products for meat mains, but only with a surcharge. It was obvious that the whole subject of veganism was more if a marketing ploy to get people into the restaurant; as far as the food goes, they didn‘t take the subject very seriously. The food was fairly bland and overpriced for what you get (both quantity and quality). $15 for beans and rice with a fancy Portuguese name is a bit over the top. I had high hopes for this restaurant, but was so disappointed that I didn‘t even leave a tip (that is not as egregious as it sounds, since this is an „Order at the counter/we don‘t have servers...“ kind of restaurant). I‘m aware that giving a negative review can have a disproportionately bad effect on a business. My intention is not to hurt the business, rather to get the business to cater to vegan patrons.
